incoming. Sandhills and geese. The migration continues…
As the weekend died down, the geese seemed to linger and wait before pushing on. Most flocks did not lift off in the evening till after the sun had been down for several minutes. The sky was nearly black . And when morning came around they would lift off from the water moments before sunrise. Looking forward to heading south to the ” Bosque” and getting some pictures of the massive flocks as the winter there.
The cranes were every where, it was as I found out later, the big push south weekend for the migratory water fowl. Ducks by the thousands, geese by the hundreds and the same for the cranes. Caught this one as it flew just over my head.
some of the last images of a weekend watching the great migration of birds as they head down the Rio Grande to the “Bosque del Apache”. He was the trail boss of a small group riders. They came up the “clear” ditch to follow a ancient ritual of water, birds and leaves.
